Ms. Mitchell’s early dance training began at Ballet Theatre of Scranton in Pennsylvania. From there, she studied at prestigious institutions across the country: The School of American Ballet, The Boston Ballet, The Washington Ballet, The Hartford Ballet, the Pennsylvania Ballet and the Bolshoi Ballet Academy.

Karen trained with Gus Giordano and the Koresh Dance Company, where she performed the work or Artistic Director Roni Koresh. She holds an MFA in dance from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts.

For 14 years, Karen performed as a Rockette and held the title of Assistant Choreographer, Dance Captain and swing for the Radio City Christmas Spectacular under the direction of Linda Haberman.

Ms. Mitchell was promoted to Director of the touring company of the Radio City Christmas Spectacular in 2014. She was the Associate Choreographer of the New York Spring Spectacular at Radio City Music Hall, working in conjunction with two Tony Award-winning choreographers, Warren Carlyle and Diane Paulus.

Ms. Mitchell was also the Associate Choreographer of the New York Spectacular Starring the Radio City Rockettes; directed and choreographed by international choreographer and Emmy Award Winner, Mia Michaels. Karen served as the Creative Director for the Radio City Rockettes for 5 years.

Combining her love of movement and fitness, Karen created her signature sKulpt classes in 2022. Currently, an instructor at Sweat New York in Pleasantville, Karen shares her passion for moving, working hard and having fun with the Sweat community.
